31st to 6th! ....... Oh, Wait a Minute
Written by Derrick Amicone    08/07/10
The Amico Race team was at the ICAR circuit in Mirabel this past weekend and got off to a bumpy start. This time the weather was not a factor, it was hot and sunny all weekend.Everything from broken down haulers to stolen vehicles was thrown at the team this weekend with a little bit of bad race luck in the mix too. Dean quaified a dissapointing 12 with an ill handling car. Douglas Lovegrove the crew chief had this to say,” The qualifying was disappointing, Dean was not happy with the car; and the tire pressures were wrong". Before the first lap of Saturday's race was complete Dean found a car in the middle of the track exiting the last corner coming on to the front strait and took evasive action to stay clear causing a brush with the wall. An emergancy pit stop took the wind out of their sails and Dean finish the race just for the points in 31st.On Sunday the team woke up to more surprises when their truck was stolen from the hotel parking lot. Everyone was in disbelief that something like that could happen at such a nice hotel. After notifying the police everyone crammed into the one truck and headed for the track. The team was determined to change their luck around.Starting from 31st Dean's was prepared to make the top 10 and in what has to be discribed as one of Dean's best performances of the year he crossed the line in 6th when the red flag flew 23 minutes into the race due to and car upside down in the middle of the track. ASN/FIA Canada stipulate that red flag race results are to be the last completed lap of the last place car (really?) so we ended up in 8th. To see the race and confusion from Dean's perspective please join the newsletter and you will be notified when the Incar video has been posted.

Amico Racing Top 10 in the Rain at Mosport
Written by Derrick Amicone    18/06/10

Predicting the weather at Mosport is starting to be just as important as horsepower and driver skill, Saturday’s race was damp and it looked like more rain was on the way. The team went with a full rain setup but alas it was not to be, by mid race the track was drying and no amount of rain dancing in the pits would open up the skies. Dean was running 5th in the Labours Union/KML building solutions BMW 330i but as the track dried we lost our advantage and finished 7th.

Sunday was a glorious day, sunny and warm. The team had given Dean a fast car posting the 4th fastest lap of the race, everything looked good for a top 5 finish.  Our competition had other ideas and in a heavy battle with the new Mitsubishi EVO there was contact that took us out of the race. The team wasn’t happy with the result but proud of the speed of Dean and the car, we can wait for ICAR @ Mirabel in a few weeks. For Tickets Please Visit TICKETS

1st Place in War Bonnet Enduro at Mosport
Written by Derrick Amicone    20/11/09

Amico Racing placed first in the GT3 Class of the War Bonnet Endurance Race.  The Indian Summer Trophy Races are a Mosport tradition dating back to 1955. The race was 3 hours long with a total of 24 cars.  The team made 2 pit stops in which the tires were changed, and the car was refuelled.  The race was a great success as Amico Racing lead the GT3 Class for the latter half of the race.  In this intensely exhausting race Amico Racing and Josh Fantin left no unanswered questions regarding their capability of triumph.
